Job Description: Reporting into the Model Stewardship and Individual Life Actuarial team, this position will support initiatives required to drive profitability of the US Individual Life products as well as to support model development of the GGY AXIS actuarial software, developing and promoting best practices across the US Business Group. The Model Stewardship function supports all Business Units in SLF US that use GGY AXIS, including IFM, Group, and ALM. Job Responsibilities: Under direction from the Associate Director, support ongoing actuarial analysis to advance our strategic priorities for the Individual Life businesses through AXIS modeling and effective communication of results. With a client focus, assist in analyzing proposed initiatives and provide thoughts and recommendations to help drive profitable results. Perform model runs and provide analysis to support identifying drivers of changes to earnings and capital requirements under current and future regulatory regimes (such as LICAT, IFRS 17). Assist in building out model documentation for the Individual Life models and products. Assist Model Stewardship with completing quarterly reviews of AXIS license holders, reviewing Cloud usage, maintaining outstanding modifications Job list, reviewing Elink storage space usage, coordinating the quarterly Moody's Analyst meeting, recommending best practices, and other tasks as needed. Support on-going process to ensure that required model modifications are implemented, model versions are consistent across SLF US (i.e. IFM, Group, and ALM), and models are consistently up to date. Provide AXIS modeling subject matter expertise and assist in developing and sharing best practices to SLF US AXIS users. Complete other ad hoc duties as may be required from time to time. Competencies: Bachelor's degree with 5 - 7 years' experience. Actuarial student with 7 or more exams completed, or equivalent work experience. 4 or more years of experience working with actuarial models. Knowledge in AXIS preferred. Experience working with and coding excel VBA macros preferred. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills and demonstrated ability to think creatively to resolve issues. Attention to detail, with a strong controls mindset. Solid communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation). Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, including with different business partners across geographic locations. Good multitasking abilities with proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
